>>> 2019/20 Membership – will be available in OCTOBER <<< (We’re moving to a new system, so hang tight. :-))
A USSMA Membership license will be REQUIRED to participate in USSMA sanctioned Races.
An annual USSMA license is available for purchase online. Cost is $40. Once you have purchased the membership you will be provided a license number that will be required for registration of USSMA sanctioned races.
NEW License numbers will be assigned upon sign up for each year. Please disregard your OLD license number and use the newly assigned one going forward. Thanks!
As a part of the membership you will accumulate points for the national rankings determined by USSMA sanctioned races. We will be working on additional member benefits, so stay tuned!
Membership revenue will help the USSMA grow the sport of Ski Mountaineering Racing in the US. Thanks for being a USSMA Member!
Athletes must choose a membership division, which will be used for your entry and points scoring of all races for the season.
Cadet (17&Under): Shortened course, with a maximum age of 17 years.
Junior (18, 19, 20): Full distance race course with a maximum age of 20 years.
Espoir (21, 22, 23): Full distance race course with a maximum age of 23 years
Open: Open category for all men and women 21 years old and older, full course.
Masters: Full course, minimum age is 45 years.
Recreation: Reduced distance/vert category. Ski/binding weight must be a minimum of 750 grams per ski/binding or 1500 grams for the pair.
TO DETERMINE YOUR RACING AGE:
For the 2018/19 season, your racing age is the age you will be on Dec 31st 2019. For example, if a kid is currently 17, but will be 18 by the end of the 2019, their racing age is 18 and they will need to sign up for a Junior (18,19,20) member/license.
Note: It is possible for an athlete to obtain points in their age category as well as podium in the open category (e.g. win the Espoir, but also place in the open).
Note: Sanctioned Race Directors will also be selling $10 one day licenses for those people who only plan to participate in a given race. One day license holders will not be included in USSMA points results or other member benefits.
