The USSMA needs your help as we create the foundations for a Skimo World Cup 2023 race in the U.S., for performance in Olympic Games in 2026 and for coaching programs designed to put U.S. racers on the podium!
Can you support the development of US Skimo with your annual charity goals?
USSMA is a 501c3 non-profit organization that uses donations as one of our biggest sources of income. Remember that USSMA is a fully volunteer-run organization with over 30 people helping to sanction, run, support and develop Skimo in the U.S. All proceed go directly to funding programs.
We are sure you have seen the surge in interest in ski mountaineering. The USSMA is now playing an even bigger role in the broader ski mountaineering movement. We are building the framework to develop the sport at a much broader level with youth through masters’ races and programs. We will be helping athletes of all levels and backgrounds find a way into the sport in a safe and exciting manner.
The sport is growing internationally beyond Europe and we want to ensure that the U.S. has the opportunity to put athletes on World Cup podiums as well as the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. We are in the process of planning one or more World Cup races in the U.S. as well as facilitating sending more American athletes abroad for competitions in the future. This is the time to build the sport with younger athletes and this takes resources for equipment, travel, camps, and coaching.
