The 2019 Heathen Challenge at Sunlight Mt. Resort will play host to the USSMA National / Worlds Team Qualifier.

This Sprint race will determine who qualifies for the USSMA Worlds Team for the “SPRINT RACE” discipline.

COSMIC is the official Race Organizer and will be working closely with the USSMA and Sunlight.


REGISTRATION NOW OPEN.  A USSMA membership / license is required to compete in the USSMA Race Divisions, and are the only divisions competing to qualify for the USSMA National / Worlds Team.  An ISMF license is not required.
You may register in person on Saturday for the sprint and individual race.  You cannot register in person on Sunday for the individual race.


USSMA / ISMF Race Divisions: (male/female for each) *USSMA member / license REQUIRED (ISMF license not needed).

For the 2018/19 season, your racing age is the age you will be on Dec 31st 2019.  For example, if a kid is currently 17, but will be 18 by the end of the year, their racing age is 18 and they will need to sign up for a Junior (18,19,20) member/license.

Racers will start individually at 20 second intervals, if you miss your start time, you will receive a time based on your POSTED start time, not your actual start time. SO DON’T MISS YOUR START! 
> 1-2:00pm – Semi Finals & Finals
Top-12 of the senior categories will move onto semifinal heats, and the top-3 from each heat will move to the final heat. All other categories will move straight into the final heat of 6.

Course – Standard ISMF set up

The sprint course will have a a skinning section with several switchbacks, a booter, then another skinning section. The descent will be GS gates with a skate to the finish line. Skis must be attached to the pack for the booter. All transitions must be completed in the transition zone (for example, you cannot ski out of the transition until your skins are in your suit).
